Growing up in Northern California and having the family we did meant we were surrounded by multiple cultures. We grew up on traditional Miwok, Nisenan, and Patwin lands, and these lands are where our business is based. Our grandfather was an active player in the California Native Community throughout his adult life, and says he was “raised Maidu, Miwok, and Pomo”. While these are the tribes he and we were raised around our family heritage is Powhatan.
Our grandfather played a vital role in our lives and our goal is to always make him a proud ancestor with the work we do. His example is what we looked to when creating a business philosophy. One day we hope to have an impact in the community that he would be proud of. In the meantime, Amy and I will continue to use the gifts our Grandfather gave us to make him smile when he looks down from the spirit world and sees all that we are doing. We are proud Indigenous people who will continue to support all our relatives while raising awareness about issues and wins in Indian Country. One day we hope to be the kind of ancestors our grandfather is.
