After an 18 month legal battle Indian Country's premier clothing line, Native ThreadsTM, is back in business. On Friday January 30, 2009 the ....California.. ..Superior.. ..Court.. ..of.. ..San Diego.. ..County.... presided over a settlement conference that awarded the Native Threads trademark and trade name to plaintiff, Randy Bardwell.
Bardwell, an enrolled member of the Pechanga Band of Mission Luiseno Indians, filed his lawsuit in late 2007 against the former owner of the brand when differences in opinions arose on how to operate the business.
"I'm excited that we can now move forward with the Native ThreadsTM brand name and put it back into the hands of our loyal customers throughout Indian Country" Bardwell states. "There are a few key pieces to put into place to make it a whole business again and I'm confident that it will all come together in a very short timeframe."
Native ThreadsTM intends to re-launch the brand in mid-spring with a special, limited edition product line that commemorates the victory for native people everywhere.
