To support a Native basketball team and showcase the new basketball combo set in our Spring/Summer product line, Native Threads provided free uniforms for the amateur basketball team from the village of Hydaburg, Alaska. The team’s new Native Threads uniforms arrived just in time for the annual Gold Medal Tournament in Juneau, Alaska.
The Hydaburg team went undefeated, taking its first B Bracket Gold Medal title since 1995. Hydaburg defeated the Haines Merchants by a score of 109 92 in the Championship game, held Saturday, March 26th.

The Hydaburg team is a tight knit family team, made up of mostly brothers and cousins. Native Threads tips its cap to these champions for their winning style and community pride:

The annual tournament has a rich history. This year marked the 59th annual Gold Medal event, showcasing the talent and community pride of Native teams from across Alaska. Despite the long dry spell in Juneau’s annual Gold Medal event, the team from Hydaburg has won nine of the last 10 All-Native Tournaments held in Prince Rupert, British Columbia.
